Introduction to Programming?

Well the way I started was by learning Lisp first because it is a functional programming paradigm and its a nice place to start and get the basics of writing and compiling code. Then moved on to java to get a grasp on the idea of object oriented programming. Also, java is a great and easy language and is being used more and more and is a great place to start as well.
