Bedroom makeover! I need ideas please.?

I have the original master bedroom of my house (my Dad built a new one when my mom got pregnant with my brother and relatives were regularly coming over and spending the night), so it's a pretty decent sized room with two closets and two windows. I have a queen sized bed, a book shelf, a vanity, a tall shelf full of goodness knows what, posters galore and a drawer set. My room a dark violet with light gray sponging. This was great when I was a teenager, but now in my early twenties this is just dark, depressing and very cluttered looking. I'm ready to get rid of all the junk and have a bedroom that's cute, calming but inspirational, artistic but mature. I love bright colors (I was even seriously considering pink, but it doesn't have to be) and artistic looks. I need ideas! Lots and lots of good ideas! I know there have got to be some people lurking around the internet with a knack for interior decoratoring...Suggestions anyone?
